Today, I received a lovely gift from the most adorable little girl.
She is a four-year-old patient who had been coming in for treatment for a burn injury.
Together with her equally adorable older sister, she came to give me a present.
I was so happy to hear that she was able to participate in her school’s sports day.
They even brought me printed photos from the event.
In those photos were the brightest, most radiant smiles.
Her father, mother, and everyone in the family always had such warm and cheerful smiles,
and I was constantly comforted by their presence.
Of course, I’m truly happy that her burn has healed beautifully,
but at the same time, I can’t help but feel a little sad thinking I may not see them again.
She gave me a portrait she had drawn of me,
an origami acorn, and a bouquet of origami flowers.
Thank you so very much.
To her parents, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your kindness and thoughtfulness.
